Elm Tree Pruning

UFA prunes elm trees only from November through March because the sap produced by pruning can attract the elm bark beetle, which spread the fungus responsible for Dutch Elm Disease (DED). During the winter months, the elms will not emit as much of a scent from cut stems and minimizes the attraction of elm bark beetles to susceptible trees.
